the way the song sounds coincides with the message of the song...i love it...this is why i love andrew peterson. there is no constant chord or beat emphasized...it switches all the time...just like message of the song...you can just be walking down the street and all of a sudden be struck by something concerning the nature of God.

i feel you, i hear you...great god unseen i see you. (beautiful)

Thanks for sharing your story. It is one that seems so familiar to me. It easy to feel like I've been "born again breach" when I look at how I've carried out my faith over the years, but God is faithful, and he carries us from glory to glory to make us like His Son.

I can't wait to see Him.

I love the repeated line about the "goodness coming through." I thought about how fallen the world is because of sin, and yet how incredibly good God's original design of the world really is, so filled with goodness that it bleeds through even in the midst of our mucked up world.

Love the George MacDonald quote! Life is full of little resurrections, it is true.

Reminds me a little of what CS Lewis said about the great ancient myths of gods who die and rise again, how there is something woven into the fabric of the human mind that longs for a god that will do just that, and how Jesus is the fulfillment of these longings.

Also reminds me of the statements about Abraham in Hebrews 11:17-19 and in Romans 4:16-25 -- he was a man with "resurrection faith." This is why he is the father of faith for us all: he believed God would not only resurrect his and his wife's infertile bodies to bring forth a son, but he also believed God would raise that son from death.

I find it fascinating that "Hosea" was also the original name of Joshua, Moses' apprentice. Moses renamed him Joshua (Numbers 13:6). "Hosea" means "salvation," whereas Joshua means, "Yahweh is salvation." Joshua was also the Hebrew name of Jesus.

Hosea really is a prototype of Jesus, not just by name association. He is the groom who comes to make his bride clean on the inside.

I love that thought: "Only in God’s Kingdom is a cry for help equal to a shout of praise."

Every time I read the Gospels I am confronted by a Jesus that wants to cleanse the temple of God in a way that makes my attempts at piety look petty. Thanks, Andrew, for bringing me face to face with that same Jesus through this song.

Thanks for sharing these thoughts. I am coming to understand more and more that real growth and maturity has more do to with seeing my depravity and great need for the blood of Christ. God has ratified the "covenant of empty pockets" (Isaiah 55), and I am so grateful that for his love.
